Wow, the Redskins won again and I couldn’t be happier with their performance to this point.
After sleepy execution in week one, the Redskins appear to be running on all eight cylinders. With a quirky schedule, the Redskins get to play their remaining NFC East games at home. What an advantage after going to Dallas and Philly and winning.
You’ve got to give a lot of credit to Coach Z and his staff. That decision on 4th and one at the end of the game against Philly was gutsy, but the right one. Coach Z would have been skewered had the Skins not made it, but that doesn’t change the fact that it was a good call, the right thing to do, and won them the game.
That call also shows the team has something they haven’t had the last few years, the ability and willingness to take chances when the time is right and finish the game. All too often we’ve seen the Skins squander 4th qtr. leads because they played “protect the ball”‘ and stopped playing football. The game is 4 quarters, not three, not 3 1/2.
It’s about time we’ve gotten a coach that lets Jason Campbell use his more of his talents. Coach Z let’s Jason throw the ball! WOW, what a concept. We haven’t had a real passing game in a few years. That, of course, opens up the running game as evidenced in Clinton Portis’s stellar performance.
I shouldn’t leave the defense out, they pretty much shut down each team they face. They look strong, make the proper adjustments and are getting the ball back in the offense’s hands. You can’t ask for much more than that.
I know it’s early in the season and anything can happen, but right now I couldn’t be happier with the Redskins, and Coach Z’s, performances.
