Tonight was my FIL’s retirement party. 37 years of oral surgery here in Virginia Beach and he’s finally done. Congratulations is all I can say. It was a wonderful time and thanks to the doctor that threw the party.
The kind words said about him were wonderful to hear, but the stories were the best! He was obviously a well respected doctor.
Over the last 5-6 years I’ve really come to admire and love this man. He’s lived life to the fullest, and it can only get better from here.
He’s instilled wonderful values in my wife and we are going to do our best to pass them on.
I’ve been crewing on his sailboat out of Little Creek for the past couple of years and thoroughly enjoy our time out on the water. He even let me take the helm for the first time two weeks ago. We never win, that’s going to be another subject, but the captain and crew always have a great time. I hope he gets to sail more now that he’s done with work. Maybe some blue water sailing can be put on his itinerary in the near future.
I don’t think he needs to golf more. Heck, I think he golfs 5 days a week already! But it’d be nice to see him take a few golf trips to some of the more famous courses around the country with some of his buddies. Man does he love to golf.
I also hope he gets to spend more time with our son. I’ll never forget some of the visits with my grandparents as I was growing up. I may not have appreciated them then, but I sure do now. Besides, those values of his need to be seen by our son.
Congratulations Captain. See you at the dock Wednesday.
