I haven’t had fast-food since my last visit to McDonald’s Haygood, so I hate to admit it, but I was looking forward to some nasty, greasy fries this evening. But instead of chancing it with McD’s, I went to Wendy’s at Haygood Shopping Center.
I swear, fast-food restaurants are nothing more than giant cash registers. It’s amazing how many people they serve in a day.
I got there at 5:15pm. They weren’t busy at the drive thru, I only waited for two cars to order.
Placing my order was relatively pain free. The order taker probably had a bunch of wax in her ears because I had to repeat a single combo order twice, but at least she got it right.
I said, “Thank you” after ordering and got nothing in return. Typical.
The payment window is where this visit started to tick me off. I sat, and sat, and sat with exact change in my hand. Two people were right there, but not opening the damn window!
My hand was just inches from them on the other side of clear glass. No one looked. I was being ignored.
I could see my order sitting at the next window, my fries were getting cold. The ice in my drink was melting. My burger was turning to mush.
You guessed it, I was getting pissed off.
Finally the gateway to the next window opened and I could finally unload my cash to one of the money takers. She opened the window smugly and told me what I owed. I forced a kind tone and responded, “Ok, here’s exact change”. She shut the window. WTF?!?! Are you kidding me?
I calmed myself during the two second roll to the Wendy’s Window of Cold Fries, Melted Ice, and Mushy Burger.
After the food dispenser handed me my bag of stuff and my cup of cola water she shut the window! Not one word crossed that woman’s lips. Not one.
I wanted to bust the window in! Instead, I politely knocked. I wanted some salt.
The food dispenser got the salt, handed it to me and this time she literally slammed the window shut!
I can’t believe people actually get paid to be rude to customers.
I knocked on the window again to ask for ketchup this time. I don’t use extra ketchup, I just wanted to see if she could speak.
Nope, she can’t speak, or won’t. Maybe to avoid confrontations with customers, Wendy’s is now training employees to not speak. Whatever it is, it’s working.
I can’t believe if Barack Hussein Obama is elected I’m going to have to give people like that a portion of my income. That’s a crime. It’s not fair. It’s just wrong.
