We went to Ruby Tuesday at Pembroke in Virginia Beach for some salad. Yep, me the carnivore has to shed a few pounds to keep the doctor happy. Oh, I’m still eating meat, but fast food is out.
We showed up a little before lunch to beat the crowd and were seated right away near the front door at an intersection of aisles. I suggested to the host we should be seated elsewhere because we needed a high-chair that would stick out, but it fell on deaf ears. Normally I’d have gotten real pissed and just sat elsewhere, but this time I just let him seat us there and figured he’d learn his lesson.
Sure enough our boy was in the way of the waitstaff, but I didn’t care. The idiot host should have used his brain and sat us near the end of an aisle.
The wife and I both got the salad bar. As normal, it was stocked fine and clean with crispy lettuce. What should be cold was cold and fresh looking. I did have to discard a couple of plates that weren’t clean enough for me, but I’m pretty anal when it comes to that stuff.
Our waiter, I believe his name was Josh, or something similar, he had shaggy hair anyway, was very polite and helpful. He kept us with filled water glasses and was quite friendly. I really liked it that he didn’t reach out to touch our son. That really pisses me off. He was friendly enough to earn a 30% tip on a buffet. Yeah I know, stupid tip.
Overall it was what you’d expect from a chain restaurant when you just get the salad bar, good. Not great, just good. Average, not wonderful.
