Here are the two reasons why Barack Hussien Obama (mmm-mmm-mmm) won the Nobel Peace Prize. First, he’s not George Bush. Second, expectations.
Jimmy Carter and Al Gore both won Nobel Prizes while Bush was in office. Jimmy Carter worked tirelessly, with Bill Clinton, on Middle East peace back in 2000. Al Gore for his, now de-bunked, support of Global warming.
Obama has essentially taken Bush’s Afghanistan Policy and run with it. Gitmo is not closed as Obama promised.
Nuclear Non-Proliferation. Right. Nukes are now found the world over. Good luck getting a new NPT signed.
The Obama administration has well over 30 “czars”, but did you know Obama doesn’t have a USAID administrator? I bet the suffering people of Myanmar, Congo and Sudan do.
The announcement sparked immediate questions by the press in Oslo, prompting Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the five-member Nobel committee to say, “We are awarding Obama for what he has done in the past year. And we are hoping this may contribute a little bit for what he is trying to do.”
We already know Obama hasn’t done anything of significance in the last year. “For what he is trying to do”? That’s basing the prize on expectations. Essentially the committee just “dumbed down” the prize. No true accomplishments are needed to win.
You too, can be a Nobel Prize winner based on what you may do, not what you have done. Oh, and if you’re not George Bush.
